I have always thought of lawn bowling as a game for old people. Is that the case?
- No. People of all ages can bowl. Lawn bowling is a game that is played by youngsters and by seniors and a participant can get a surprising amount of exercise during a game. You will get your exercise by the walking back and forth as the ends are played, by the bending, stretching and the thrust required to deliver 3 or 4 bowls each end, and by the bending to gather the bowls.
- We have casual games that our new bowlers feel quite comfortable in playing. We have games where the competition is definitely present.
- The game is easy to learn but challenging to master and once someone who is not a senior tries the game, it becomes obvious that there are challenges a-plenty. That is why it is not just a game for seniors. However, the beauty of the game is that seniors can take advantage of their finely-honed skills and still bowl competitively. It is a game of touch and strategy and for that, you are never too old or too young.
